The VCCA and Second Stage Amherst Present an Evening with Simen Johan

Spend the evening of Saturday, May 5, 2018, beginning at 7:30 p.m., at Second Stage in Amherst with this extraordinary Scandinavian contemporary artist, photographer, sculptor, and VCCA Fellow. Johan will present a slide-show of his work, some of which is included in the permanent collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, Brooklyn Museum, New York, Art Gallery of Ontario, Canada, and the North Carolina Museum of Art, Raleigh, among others. ArtNews referred to Johan’s images as “striking in their depth of emotion and narrative” and The New Yorker states that Johan’s “composite images are hyperrealistic in their textures and colors, and in the captivating intensity of the animals on display.”
