The public is invited to step back in time to learn about colonial education, trades, agricultural pursuits, and leisure time. Interpreter Trish Duncan Thomas of Williamsburg will demonstrate flax dressing, the Cardinal Lace Guild will exhibit lace making, and Dawn Smoot Doss will present spinning. There will also be Revolutionary War soldiers and civilians, a physician/surgeon, a fifer and drummer, blacksmith and a silversmith. A batteau-man will be in the Hamble Center, located behind the museum, showcasing the batteau Maple Run. Children and adults can try their hand at writing with a quill pen as was done in colonial days. Period games such as Rolling Hoops, Graces, Battledore & Shuttlecock, Quoits, and Ball & Cup will be available for both children and adults to engage in. Ralph and Marilyn Shore of North Carolina will showcase their collection of colonial toys. The Monacans will demonstrate traditional hand work and Benjamin Franklin will be on hand to demonstrate his many inventions.
