What can the Chamber do for you?
In addition to being a beautiful place to live, Amherst County is a wonderful place to do business.
The Amherst County Chamber of Commerce provides benefits to over 200 members with in Amherst County and the surrounding areas.
GivingTuesday inspired hundreds of thousands of people around the world to celebrate generosity. People in the US gave 2.7 Billion Dollars, offering hope, volunteering their time, and donating to causes important to them. But it doesn't stop there. #GivingTuesday is the kick-off of the Holiday Giving Season. We hope you'll keep local organizations in mind when considering your holiday giving.
*Amherst VA Gives (#AmherstVAGives) is our local arm of GivingTuesday. Our goal is to bring awareness to causes, groups, and non-profits that are helping our community all year long.
#ShowUpAmherst is a new initiative in partnership with Amherst County Public Schools, Amherst County Public Schools Education Foundation, and IRON Lives to promote positive character for students, parents, and the greater community. Students are encouraged to SHOW UP in a variety of ways: attending school, volunteering, helping others, and spreading kindness. ACPS Superintendent, Dr. William Wells, said the school system is looking to reengage post-Covid. They would like community volunteers to Show Up -simply meeting students as they get off the bus, offering a helping hand, and taking an active interest in the future of Amherst County by engaging with students in our schools. In addition to encouraging families to Show Up, Dr. Wells would like to invite all local businesses to donate 1 hour a month. Show up when kids arrive, etc. so the students see that the community is interested in them and their education. Dr. Wells said that ACPS is also looking forward to volunteering however they can to help in the community. Stay tuned to the ACPS Facebook page for monthly themes, volunteer training, etc. We hope to encourage our community to pledge their time to help the students.
