Ankida Ridge First Annual “Gamay Nouveau Day!”
Let's party with the French and celebrate the first taste of the new 2019 vintage with Ankida’s “Gamay Nouveau” Tasting Day. France’s four-day party celebrating the release of their “Beaujolais Nouveau” begins annually at 12:01am the 3rd Thursday of November, when Beaujolais winemakers begin rolling barrels of their Nouveau wines down the village streets to start the party! We’ll have to settle for a fivehour party in the tasting room!
In 2017, we planted our own gamay grapes high on our granite mountainside, and this year we were able to harvest a tiny crop. Crafted using authentic "carbonic maceration," we have created our own "Nouveau" (new) Gamay wine... a simple, fun wine, not meant to be studied, swirled and sipped, just a light, simple wine to drink in celebration of a new vintage! In France they call this a “Glou, Glou!” wine! We will be offering tastings of this very first (and very tiny) harvest, so tiny only "complimentary sample tasting pours" will be offered this year. But with this, you have an opportunity to learn about this process, taste the results and celebrate the end of harvest and the brand new vintage.
In addition, we will be offering glasses of France's "2019 Beaujolais Nouveau" (to be released at 12:01am, Thursday.) This wine will pair nicely with the traditional Beaujolais foods catered by Lynchburg’s Purple Door Catering. Wear your beret! Receive a special gift if you can toss a beret to land on top of our own 7 ft Eiffel Tower!
No reservations necessary.
